From Azerbaijan to Manali: A Journey That Changed My Perspective on Travel

Travel changes you in ways you don’t expect. Sometimes a trip is not just about visiting a new destination — it becomes a journey of self-discovery.

That’s exactly what happened to me after exploring Azerbaijan.

Before that trip, I had traveled many times, but mostly on business trips or family vacations. Everything used to be perfectly planned — hotel bookings, transportation, sightseeing, and itineraries. Sometimes we traveled through a travel agent or booked complete travel packages.

But Azerbaijan was different.

For the first time, I started planning many parts of the trip on my own. And that experience gave me a completely new confidence as a traveler.

My Azerbaijan Travel Experience

When we first arrived in Azerbaijan, we did what most tourists usually do. We booked a hotel for seven days in advance and even hired a taxi for the entire trip so that transportation would be easy.

At that time it felt convenient.

But after spending a few days there, we realized something important.

If you truly want to explore a destination, you cannot always travel like a tourist. You have to become a traveler.

What It Means to Be a Real Traveler

  • Taking a little risk
  • Being comfortable with uncertainty
  • Exploring places beyond the planned itinerary
  • Becoming mentally stronger during the journey

This realization completely changed my perspective about travel.

With these thoughts and memories from Azerbaijan, I returned to Delhi — but something inside me had changed.

Soon after that, I planned my next trip. The destination was Manali.

Why Manali is a Paradise for Delhi Travelers

If you live in Delhi, Manali is almost like a quick escape to paradise.

Whenever there is a long weekend, people from Delhi often head towards destinations like:

  • Manali
  • Dehradun
  • Haridwar
  • Rishikesh

Manali is a small town in Himachal Pradesh, but it offers an incredible combination of mountains, snow, adventure, and scenic beauty.

This time, I traveled with a small group. It was not a big organized tour — just a cozy group of people who came together for the same experience.

And sometimes, that makes a trip even more special.

When you meet new people during a journey, the entire travel experience becomes more memorable.

During our Manali trip, we explored many beautiful places. We saw snow in the mountains, visited the famous Atal Tunnel, and also traveled to Sissu village.

The snow wasn’t as heavy as we expected, but the crowd was definitely huge. Still, the experience was unforgettable.

Meeting the Digital Nomad Generation

One of the most interesting parts of the Manali trip was meeting people who had been living there for months.

Yes, months.

After the COVID pandemic, the concept of work from home became very popular across the world. Many companies still allow employees to work remotely.

Because of this, people are now choosing to live in places they love.

The Rise of the Digital Nomad Lifestyle

  • One month
  • Two months
  • Even six months

They work during weekdays and explore the mountains during weekends.

This lifestyle is often called the digital nomad lifestyle, and honestly, it felt really inspiring to see it in real life.

Learning From the Younger Generation

Sometimes when we meet younger travelers and listen to their perspectives about life, it can be surprisingly inspiring.

When we were growing up, life followed a very different structure.

The priorities were simple:

  • Work hard
  • Earn money
  • Save for the future

But there was almost no space for things like:

  • Travel
  • Self-care
  • Personal happiness
  • Taking breaks for mental well-being

Those things were rarely considered important.

But today’s generation sees life differently. They believe in experiencing life while building their career.

Sometimes when I see their approach towards life, I feel that our generation might have missed some beautiful experiences.

But the good thing is — it’s never too late to start exploring.

And every new trip teaches something new.

Instagram Reels vs Real Travel

Travel planning today has become incredibly easy. Almost everyone is tech-savvy, and people can easily book their flights, hotels, and transportation online.

Social media plays a huge role too. In fact, many people get inspired to travel after watching Instagram travel reels.

And honestly, I was one of them.

My first trip to Azerbaijan was also inspired by Instagram reels.

But the purpose of my travel blog is slightly different.

I want to take people beyond the reels and closer to reality.

Because real travel is not always perfect like social media videos. There are challenges, unexpected situations, and sometimes difficult moments.

But those are the experiences that make a journey truly meaningful.

A Small Request to Every Traveler

During my Manali trip, I noticed something that exists in many tourist destinations in India — garbage and pollution created by tourists.

And the truth is, this is not done by someone else. It is done by people like us.

Respect Nature While Traveling

  • Enjoy the destination but do not harm it
  • Respect nature
  • Keep the place clean
  • Help preserve these beautiful locations for future travelers

Because nature gives us these incredible places — the least we can do is protect them.

Final Thoughts

See you in the next blog.

A new destination, a new journey, and many more travel stories to share.
